YRUU Youth Group
High School Youth Group
Attention all parents of our youth, ages K-12th:
Classes in time of pandemic: Due to the current pandemic and Shut-Down, all youth classes are online on ZOOM. We meet with all ages online from 2:00-3:00 pm every Sunday. If you are interested in joining us, please email Heather at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and links.
Sunday Night Virtual UU Youth Group meets every Sunday night at 6:30pm-7:30pm. Please email Heather for details and links. This is safe space to meet other peers your age who are going through the same types of things as you. We are exploring ways to deal with and support each other through this pandemic. Email Heather for links.
Eric Bliss is also sponsoring a Virtual YRUU MDD group on ZOOM held on Mondays 2:00pm MT. Email Heather for links.
When we are able to meet in person once again, classes will look like this: All Faith Formation classrooms will meet starting at 2:00 pm at the Fillmore Center. Classes will run until 3:00 pm, when all ages will get a snack. Youth group will also be meeting at this same time. The K-8th grade levels will have supervised free time until 3:30 and then will be in with the adults for Whole Church Worship.
We are currently working through the Crossing Paths Curriculum, which is a study of various religions and philosophies from around the world. We discuss each group’s belief systems and learn more about how each religion is practiced by its own followers. We are studying Hinduism in April, Islam in May, and an overview of the whole year’s program in June.
We also study the Soul Matters Curriculum. It is a monthly theme set out by the UUA, which includes discussion on the monthly theme with activities that bring us deeper into understanding each theme. We are studying Liberation in April and Thresholds in May. June’s topic has yet to be determined.
