The Gaelic name for our Halloween, Samhain is known as the Third Harvest, that of the animals. It is a time to acknowledge life and death and our own mortality, to celebrate our ancestors, and all that dies that we might live. Both Crone and Sage, the living Elders of the community are also celebrated as we descend into the darkness of coming Winter. You may wish to join with the Unity Congregation in sharing photos or other mementos of ancestors and others who have passed beyond life on our shared memorial altar.
