A Celebration of Life: High Plains Church Unitarian Universalist

Join us In-Person or Online for Service

Come join the last worship service of High Plains Church UU.  It will be a bittersweet time to grieve the end of the congregation—and to celebrate its life. For 29 years, through the many ups and downs and twists and turns of congregational life, HPCUU church members, clergy, staff, and friends have ministered to, for, and with one another—and to Colorado Springs.

Over these years, the church has partnered with Colorado Springs non-profits that work for justice to make our UU values real in the world.  As part of the church’s legacy, the congregation will present grants to five local organizations as an investment in our shared future.

Rev. Teri is honored to lead the service with our pastoral care minister, the Rev. Kelly Dignan.  They will be joined by HPCUU’s first minister, the Rev. Mike Morran—and its last minister, the Rev. Julia McKay.  Blessings will be offered by Unity’s Spiritual Center’s minister, Dr. David Goldberg, and All Souls UU’s newly called minister, the Rev. Ron Phares.

Our special music will be provided by The BUS Trio (Braithwaite, Uveges, and Sokol).  The trio has performed along Colorado’s Front range for more than 30 years. They are so familiar with one another; they switch harmony parts effortlessly. They are consummate musicians and excellent songwriters as well. KJ Braithwaite has a very Clapton-esque guitar technique and strong vocals to match. Joe Uveges (former Music Director for HPCUU) plays guitar, keys and banjo and has won 5 GO Best of the Springs Awards.  Jim Sokol brings percussion, guitar, and harmonica along with one of the finest male vocal leads in the state. Together?  Magic.
