Japanese Experiences and Cultural/Social Resources
In Japan, tea is more than just a hot drink. The tea ceremony represents purity, tranquility, respect, and harmony. It is linked to Buddhism, and dates to the 9th century. The ceremony is meditative in nature with joyful conversation following the preparation. Enjoy a simplified tea ceremony and several Japanese inspired activities along with our congregation’s tradition of coffee and conversation. Three long-standing local organizations (Japanese American Society of Southern Colorado, Golden Lotus Foundation, and Sister Cities International) will also share information about the ongoing educational, social, and cultural opportunities they each offer to promote awareness and peace through mutual respect, understanding, and opportunities.
Hosted by members of the JEDI team.
