Courageously Queer!

It takes a profound amount of courage to authentically engage the world when it seems to be in constant combat with who you are and who you feel you are meant to be. Through the sharing of original poems and personal stories, Susan Peiffer will reflect on the courage it takes to show up queer, and the courage it requires to create brave spaces for queer youth. Susan M. Peiffer, ThD (they/them) is a queer poet, educator, and youth advocate with twenty years experience working with young people in social, educational, and summer-camp settings. After working in Colorado Springs with the nonprofit Hear Here Poetry and having served the region as Pikes Peak Poet Laureate, Susan is now Programs Manager at Inside Out Youth Services and strives with their team to build access, equity, and power with LGBTQIA2s+ young people ages 13-24. Susan earned a doctoral degree in Christian Gender Ethics and believes we each reflect the divine however we show up along the spectrums of gender and sexuality, and that it is work integral to a full spirit to create spaces where individuals are free and safe to express themselves boldly.

Our monthly Donate the Plate will be collected on this Sunday for Who Gives a Scrap. Who Gives a Scrap is a 501(c)(3) donation-based scrap store that carries an impressive mix of arts, craft, hobbies and vintage finds. The reuse of materials is the most environmentally friendly way to reduce the waste stream.
