Join your HPCUU Multicultural Action Team for a conversation about the grassroots movement to adopt the 8th Principle. What is your current understanding of the 8th Principle and how it relates to being a UU community? What questions do you need answered? In preparation for our June vote on whether or not to adopt this principle as a congregation, please join in the discussion. We’d love to hear from you!
Here are the current seven principles which Unitarian Universalist congregations covenant to affirm and promote, with the addition of the proposed 8th principle:
- The inherent worth and dignity of every person
- Justice, equity and compassion in human relations
- Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations
- A free and responsible search for truth and meaning
- The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large
- The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all
- Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part
- * Journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountable dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions
