What can High Plains do to serve our Children and Youth better? What might we learn from each other? How do we build a truly meaningful partnership between the youth and adults in our congregation? Hear the perspectives of four HPCUU Young Adults: Alex Tolson, Danielle Jernigan, Jen Keating, and Richard Mehdi. Faith Formation will also celebrate our Youth and Emerging Adults this Sunday!

Alex Tolson is 35 and building an independent game development studio. He came to HPCUU through the Starting Points class on Zoom in Oct of 2020. Alex was drawn to the church by the feelings of inclusivity and open-mindedness. Since then, he has joined HPCUU and become part of a small covenant group and the JEDI Allies.

Danielle Jernigan is a 31-year-old birder and nurse informaticist. The Seven Principles attracted her to Unitarian Universalism. She’s been with High Plains since 2015 and is currently the Secretary of the Board.

Jen Keating has been a member of High Plains since 2013, when she and her husband, Dan, moved to Colorado from Pennsylvania. She taught RE for seven years until the pandemic and now serves on the Faith Formation team. In her spare time, Jen likes to run, hike, and explore the beautiful state of Colorado.

Richard Mehdi is a 33-year-old writer and artist and a longtime resident of Colorado Springs. He has regularly attended High Plains for almost a year and is part of the Seekers covenant group. He is working on trying to be a better and more useful member of the High Plains UU community and of the global community of which we are all a part.
